Common Information Space

CIS creation ensures information support during decision making in the field of state monitoring of aircraft equipment (AE) development, manufacturing, supply, and operation based on the established regulatory requirements. CIS implementation is generation of an integral data model common for all AE operation participants. An integral data model is “An aircraft electronic image” comprising information on aircraft life cycle, its components and operation processes.


CIS creation principle is used as a basis to generate information analytical system of aircraft airworthiness monitoring (IAS AAM) representing a mechanism to ensure complete and actual circulating information as well as authorization of access to IAS AAM subject information.


Aircraft electronic image
is an optimized combination of information resources about an aircraft and processes related to operation of a certain aircraft type presented in a specified format. Aircraft electronic image includes reference and actual data models comprising information on aircraft life cycle.

IAS AAM is a CIS creation mechanism and ensures uniform data formats regardless of information system platforms of IAS AAM subjects. Therefore, all circulating data are automatically included into CIS and become available to all IAS AAM subjects concerned in compliance with the defined rights of access.

The approach accepted during IAS AAM development ensures flexibility during digital document processing, input and output of required data making it possible to use all capabilities of IAS AAM to monitor all types of documents related to AE.

According to ICAO standards and recommended practices, organizations (developers, manufacturers, operators, etc.) being maintenance suppliers are simultaneously the sources of documented information – a combination of typical technical and organization and administrative documents.

IAS AAM makes it possible to integrate existing information systems of the organizations into a common information space (CIS) where aircraft operation information circulates.

A combination of OD types defines aircraft operation rules and consequently establishes their airworthiness parameters.

Document monitoring is an integral part of aircraft airworthiness monitoring, while implementation of OD continuous monitoring principle provides for aircraft airworthiness monitoring both type-wise and for aircraft specimens and their components.

An undeniable advantage of IAS AAM is a possibility to perform cross-monitoring of documented information related to post-sale period of aircraft life cycle and/or affecting the period from all sources (processes), as follows:

  • production processes (OD as part of design documentation);
  • supplies (record sheets, specifications, specification requirements, regulatory and reference information, etc.);
  • technical maintenance (production and technical and other types of evidential documents from operators, information on reliability, flight safety etc.).

The cross-monitoring makes it possible to detect and unambiguously identify any nonconformities at any stage of aircraft life cycle which ensures timely decision making for nonconformities removal and required preventive actions. OD monitoring results can be compared to documented results of aircraft component authenticity check thus ensuring additional guarantees for meeting the specified requirements to airworthiness.
